Meet the 270 Stories Staff (Spring 2025)

​270 Stories is a digital news site dedicated to covering issues affecting far western Kentucky. Students enrolled in the JMC 597 Collaborative Journalism Capstone class produce digital, audio, video and multimedia content for the news site. Students have covered the aftermath and rebuilding efforts from the December 2021 EF-4 tornado that roared through far western Kentucky for the past few semesters, but now the focus has shifted to coverage of legislative and public affairs issues in the region.

Zoe Lewis, executive editor

Zoe Lewis is a journalism major, with a minor in media production, from Benton, Kentucky. Zoe said she is passionate about journalism because she loves learning about what is happening around her and how journalism allows her to get word out to the public. When Zoe is not working on 270 Stories, she is working as a student reporter at the local NPR radio station, WKMS. Other than journalism, Zoe enjoys reading, playing with her dog and going out to eat with friends and family.

Drayton Charlton-Perrin, assistant editor

Drayton Charlton-Perrin is a journalism major, with a minor in media production, from Chicago, Illinois. Drayton said he is passionate about journalism because he loves telling stories. When he is not working on 270 Stories, Drayton is calling play-by-play for ESPN+, reporting for WPSD, and writing for The Paducah Sun. Other than journalism, Drayton enjoys cooking and going for long walks.

Ania Boutin, social media team

Ania Boutin is a journalism major, with a minor in media production, from Mercer County, Kentucky. Ania said she is passionate about journalism because she believes that it keeps our leaders accountable and the community informed. When Ania is not working on 270 Stories, she works as the news editor for The Murray State News and oversees the creation of the 2025 Gateway magazine. Other than journalism, Ania enjoys reading contemporary fiction and binging tv shows.

Rebeca Mertins Chiodini, social media team

Rebeca Mertins Chiodini is a journalism major, with a minor in photography, from St. Louis, Missouri. Rebeca said she is passionate about journalism because she loves getting to know people on a deeper level. Whether it is giving a voice to the voiceless or digging deeper into the lives of people already in the public eye, she has a love of telling the stories of others. When Rebeca is not working on 270 Stories, she works with the Racer Athletics media team and helps provide content to The Murray State News. Other than journalism, Rebeca enjoys attending sporting events, spending time with her sorority sisters and lounging around with her cat.

Kinley Humphries, social media team

Kinley Humphries is a agricultural communications major, with a minor in journalism, from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Kinley said she is passionate about journalism because it gives her a platform to advocate and spread the word about agriculture. She is also passionate about keeping the farming community informed. When Kinley is not working on 270 Stories, she is working as the associate farm news director at WKDZ radio. Other than journalism, Kinley enjoys photography, working on her family farm, riding horses and cozying up with a good book.

Bri Hunter, multimedia team

Bri Hunter is a journalism major, with a minor in media production, from Nashville, Tennessee. Bri said she is passionate about journalism because she loves the tradition of storytelling. Also, she has the belief that the mass public deserves to be informed.  When Bri is not working on 270 Stories, she works as Editor in Chief at The Murray State News. Other than journalism, Bri enjoys weightlifting, spending time with her husband and riding motorcycles. 

Jonah Morgan, multimedia team

Jonah Morgan is a journalism major, with a minor in sports communication, from Murray, Kentucky. Jonah said he is passionate about journalism because of his love of sports. He enjoys all aspects of sports journalism, such as writing game recaps, taking photos and interviewing coaches. When Jonah is not working on 270 Stories, he is writing stories for The Murray State News and taking photos at sporting events. Other than journalism, Jonah enjoys playing sports and listening to music.

Caroline Blakeman, “the orville”

Caroline Blakeman is a journalism major, with a minor in spanish, from Crab Orchard, Kentucky. Caroline said she is passionate about journalism because she has a strong desire to present information that is true and understandable. She is also very passionate about shining a light on those who are overlooked. When Caroline is not working on 270 Stories, she is working as the Chief Copy Editor of The Murray State News. Other than journalism, Caroline enjoys playing the piano, listening to 80s music and being a barista at Shaffer’s Coffee Co.
