Black Student Hairstylists Bring Confidence and Solidarity to Campus

For many Black students, Murray offers scarce options in styling in haircare. While there are many hairstylists and salons in this area, very few specialize in the unique needs of afro-textured hair. Two students have partnered together to fill in that gap on campus.

Senior psychology major Megan Fletcher and Murray State alumna Amirr Evans run a joint partnership called Hairstyles_by_ma. Scottlynn Ballard speaks with them to learn more about the inspiration behind their business, as well as their impact in providing such a particularly underrepresented service for students.
