“An Unusual Phenomenon”: Graves County Eclipse Party Brings National Attention

Around 31.6 million people across eleven states were able to see this year’s total solar eclipse. Among those hotspots was Melber Kentucky, a rural town roughly forty minutes away from Murray. The Mayfield-Graves County Tourism Commission and Melber Civic Club hosted an fundraiser and eclipse viewing party to invite people from the community and beyond to witness it. As part of this historic event, 270 Stories Scottlynn Ballard and Professor Leigh Landini Wright covered the totality experience from a small-town perspective.
