Lisa Copeland is stepping down from her position as executive director of Murray’s Playhouse in the Park after more than 15 years. Copeland is still performing her duties as director during a transition period as Playhouse’s board determines how to find her replacement.
Ben Overby spoke to Copeland and Jeremy Bell, president of Playhouse’s board of directors, about her decision to resign from the role and the board’s plan for finding its next executive director.
Copeland discusses what she is most proud of accomplishing during her time in the role as well as what she has found rewarding about working in the community theater for more than a decade. She also shares advice for whoever takes over her position.
While the board is still in an early stage of the hiring process, Bell describes the current plan for seeking a new executive director. He also discusses what he will miss about working with Copeland and what he thinks the board will look for when hiring a new person for the job.
