270 Stories is a project of the JMC Collaborative Journalism Capstone class at Murray State University. The title comes from the area code, 270, which encompasses far western Kentucky.
The 270 was dramatically changed on the evening of Dec. 10, 2021 when an EF4 tornado chewed a path of destruction from Fulton County in the far southwest corner to Dawson Springs and beyond in the northwest section of the area code.
In this class for Spring 2022, we will tell the stories of response, recovery and resilience of the residents of the 270. For this project, we will produce a variety of multimedia content that will be published first on our site.
